A SkinnyScoop member commented: I dont have kids yet but it seems like making Kindergarten mandatory will help in getting them adjusted to a full day of school. My decision behind this could change when I have kids!
A SkinnyScoop member commented: We go to private school too (buses are an option at our school), but we live within walking distance. That said, I think it all depends on the school. The kids at our school LOVE to ride the bus. Many kindergarten families carpool too.
A SkinnyScoop member commented: My son went to full-day kindergarten (8am to 3pm 5 days per week) and I loved it. Moreover he loved it. It was the right school for him & our family. I'm not saying one size fits all. Some kids need to ease in. Our preschool had been 5 hours/day 5 days per week so this wasn't a big jump.
A SkinnyScoop member commented: Both our children were 2 or 2.5 when they first went to "preschool". I use preschool in quotations because their first year of preschool was only 3 days per week for 4-5 hours/day. It was a very small program & they even had naps there. Once they were 3, they both went to a preschool that was 5 days/week and mixed the ages (Montessori-type program) from 3-5 years old. That was much more like a "real" school than the smaller drop off program.
