• How long can an uncontested divorce take from file to finalized?

  A SkinnyScoop member commented: It can vary by state. In the state of CA there is a 6 month "waiting period" between the time you file for divorce & the earliest that divorce will be granted. I guess that means if the divorce is uncontested & nothing else slows things down (you never know w/ this great state/country of ours!) then it should take just about 6 months.

  A SkinnyScoop member commented: He said to me recently that he wouldn't leave until the kids are at least 18, I feel the same way, couldn't risk not seeing my kids every day, so think we are in it for the long haul (or at least the next 16 years, when my youngest turns 18 :) Been through a lot together and while there are things we probably both wish were different about each other (how could you not?), we both have a lot of love and respect for the other.

• How soon did you start dating after your divorce INITIATED?

  A SkinnyScoop member commented: I met someone about 6 weeks after splitting up from my husband. I didn't initiate divorce paperwork until 4 months after the split, though.
