A SkinnyScoop member commented: I buy about 90% of the gifts for our kids, our friends, etc. I make my husband buy gifts for his mom or dad (e.g. for mothers day or her birthday.) I will also assign him specific things to get (like books) for our kids. But most of it is me.
A SkinnyScoop member commented: I think I am pretty good at going with my gut. While I am fairly analytic, I know when to stop overanalyzing and just pull the trigger based on my gut.
A SkinnyScoop member commented: I'd have no problem sharing a family recipe on my blog. Of course that's easy for me to say since I come from a family of horrible cooks - I don't think we have a family recipe worth sharing!
A SkinnyScoop member commented: My daughter has a peanut allergy and because I can't ALWAYS be where she is, I need to know that she can advocate for herself. She always asks before eating food on a play date or at a birthday party. Of course I always tell the mom hosting, but parties or play dates get busy. The second reminder is great practice.
A SkinnyScoop member commented: I originally planned to spread her ashes in the marina of SF but that day was hectic and I ended up taking the box of ashes home with me. The box looks like a wooden jewelry box. I think I will keep at home unless I change my mind to spread her ashes.
A SkinnyScoop member commented: My MIL and I have differing views on a number of issues. I'd use this as an opportunity to demonstrate to your kids that people may have individual beliefs, sometimes to the point of being opposing views, and they can co-exist successfully. You could explain (in an age-appropriate way) the underpinnings of your belief, and perhaps even touch on those you know to be your MIL's. Maybe look to the future and explain that over time, you hope your kids will develop their own beliefs based on knowledge gathered and critical thought.
