You can eat a whole elephant, one bite at a time. Take the same approach to losing weight, do it slowly and calculated and you will have a fantastic weight loss journey. Follow these 10 tips all the way to success.

  • Go on Fitness Dates

bodysculpter says: "Why just settle for ordinary dates, even with your hubby. Go dancing, take a swim class, play ball, try mini-golf or even do a picnic followed by an invigorating walk."
    • Eden Godsoe: What a great list! I want to print it off and keep it with me at all times. I should be doing all these things. Thanks for sharing.
    • bodysculpter: Eden, I am glad this helps you, thanks for the thumbs up
  • Play With Your Kids

bodysculpter says: "Put your baby in the stroller and push. Take your kids to the park and run. If you don't have kids, borrow your neighbor's (they will be happy to oblige). Get off the couch and out the door."
  • Don't Skip Breakfast

bodysculpter says: "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After sleeping 6 or so hours and working hard to burn all that fat, your body needs fuel. If you skp breakfast, you will probably overeat later. Plus you won't be at your mental best AND you will feel so sluggish."

    • bodysculpter: Krista, thanks for your comment. I think that whatever you wish to eat for "breakfast" is fine. We only think of eggs and bacon because that's all we know about, but really any food that will give you energy will work. The pasta salad sounds like a great energizer!
    • Claudia Roldan: Love it! Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Great tip.
  • Say "No!" to Super-sizing

bodysculpter says: "Next time you are in the store, look at the size of the muffins, they're probably the size of both your hands; they should be the size of an egg! Watch out for oversized, doublesized foods. If it looks like a lot, it probably is. Cut it in half, you don't have to eat the whole thing at one time. It's your body, be careful how much you put in it."
  • Keep a Food Diary

bodysculpter says: "For the next 7 days, write down what you eat, how much, when, where you ate it and how you felt. Then go back over it. You will be surprised at the patterns you see. This exercise helps you to be accountable, so next time you won't grab for the "Ho-Hos" so quickly."
    • Claudia Roldan: I agree, this has helped me stay on track and I've seen the results!
    • bodysculpter: Keeping a diary is so good in so many ways. Plus you might have a book in you, you never know :)
  • Frequent "waist-friendly" Restaurants

bodysculpter says: "Choose restaurants that allow you to choose how they prepare your food. If you don't want the sauce, it shouldn't be an issue for them to leave it off. Stay away from battered, fried, breaded and creamy menu choices. If an establishment offers too many of those, find somewhere else that offers more grilled, baked and steamed products."
  • Eat Less More Often

bodysculpter says: "Eating smaller meals more often each day speeds up your metabolism and keeps your blood sugar from spiking. You should be eating 4-5 meals per day every 3-4 hours. Here's a trick: use a salad plate and you won't be tempted to overeat, but you'll feel full."
    • Claudia Roldan: Yes! I find that I'm always eating but they are small meals throughout the day. Seems to be working :)
    • bodysculpter: Awesome! Claudia, that is the best way to do it, plus you never feel like you are starving, which causes you to overeat more.
  • Start Running

bodysculpter says: "Running is one of the best-kept secrets for weight-control, you can burn between 500 and 1,300 calories per hour of running. Get started on this 4-week running plan to drop some pounds and feel better about yourself."
    • Eden Godsoe: I think you need to create a whole other list of the basics of starting to run - equipment, goals, stretches, do's and don'ts.
    • bodysculpter: Great idea Eden, I will get to work on that!
  • Eat In More Often

bodysculpter says: "Even though more restaurants are promoting healthier meal options, you still don't know what's really in the food. Make your own meals so that you know exactly what's in them, plus you will save money by having left-overs for lunch."
  • Drink More Water

bodysculpter says: "Water is a diuretic, it helps you to burn fat and keep your body operating on point, then it helps to get rid of waste by flushing your system. Your body is 70% water anyway so why not help it out?"
