I love potato chips. They are my downfall. Salt and Vinegar are the best. But enough of potato chips. This list is all about healthier alternatives to potato chips that still satisfy.

  • Kale Chips

Eden Godsoe says: "As my friend Wona who started "Cooking with Trader Joe's" says - crisp kale chips may be the healthiest a snack can get! Similar to potato chips, but tastier and far healthier. "
  • Plantain Chips

    Roasted Plantain Chips

Eden Godsoe says: "Plantain chips may not quite as healthy as kale chips but certainly better than potato chips. Trader Joe's has good ones."
    • Krista: I want these SO badly right now that I can't even describe it.
  • Spicy Roasted Chickpeas

Eden Godsoe says: "My mouth waters just thinking about these. And even I can make them."

  • Pretzel Crisps

Eden Godsoe says: "Pretzels are good but Pretzel Crisps are better. They have a bunch of yummy flavors too."
  • Spiced Popcorn

Eden Godsoe says: "Watch out for recipes that call for butter and brown sugar. This one from Spice House uses olive oil and an assortment of spices."
  • Rice Cakes

Eden Godsoe says: "I will admit that I only like the rice cakes that have some salt or flavoring."
  • Apple Cinnamon Chips

Cathleen King suggested: "I am not a fan of chewy dried fruit but you can make these crunchy without deep frying. So good!"
  • Popchips!

Traditional potato chips are made from sliced potatoes. PopChips turns the finest potatoes into what amounts to grains of rice or kernels of corn. Think of them as the next generation potato chips.

Claudia Roldan suggested: "Loving these new chips and they come in many flavors: BBQ, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Parmesan & Garlic..How am I suppose to pick just one?!"
    • Eden Godsoe: I love these too. Especially the Sea Salt & Vinegar. I want to investigate these & the sweet potato chips further to find out if they are truly healthier than potato chips before I kid myself.
  • Wasabi Peas

Krista suggested: "The ones from Trader Joe's are pretty good, definitely have a kick to them."
    • Larissa: These ARE good, thanks for introducing them to me. They're not too spicy or salty, have a good crunchy texture too - not too hard or soft.
    • Eden Godsoe: I love wasabi peas. Didn't know TJs had some good ones. May need to add that to the things I buy regularly from TJs.
  • Baked Lentil Chips

Baked chips are not only delicious, but healthy as well.

Krista suggested: "Another TJ's find, this lentil chips are much more healthy than a potato chip. You'll have to try them and see if you like!"

  • Healthy Chips And Crackers | GirlsGoneSporty

If you like your snacks to be healthy and crunchy, use these tips to choose chips and crackers that make the grade. We also share our three favorite brands of healthy chips and crackers, and ask readers to share their favorites, too.

GirlsGoneSporty suggested: "You've already added Pretzel Crisps, but Mary's Gone Crackers & Food Should Taste Good Chips are both delicious. Mary's Gone Crackers are vegan and gluten free, perfect for people with allergies, & Food Should Taste Good Chips are baked & come with natural flavoring, so if you're going to indulge, at least you're not eating a lot of artificial flavors & unhealthy fats! Plus, both options have more fiber than plain ol' potato chips!"
  • How to Make Potato Chips in the Microwave | The Kitchn

When we first discovered microwave potato chips four years ago, it was nothing short of a revelation. Even now, the fact that a short spin in the microwave can transform slices of potato into crispy (truly crispy!) chips without needing a drop of oil.

Krista suggested: "Homemade is almost always healthier. I love this idea...doesn't even involve an oven! ;)"
