Discovering the Austin City Limits

Unfortunately I didn't get to go to the music festival but I did get to discover Austin. It's a laid-back city where people love their music, food, and the outdoors. Here are all the places I went on my trip. Hope y'all enjoy!

Uchiko

Japanese farmhouse dining and sushi restaurant by James Beard Winner Tyson Cole and Top Chef winner Paul Qui

This is a kind of Japanese-fusion restaurant but it's done right. The sushi grade fish is superb and there are a lot of interesting combinations that just work. I loved the beets, the karaage, and bacon tataki.

Downtown Austin

Cool coffee shops, restaurants, and boutiques. If you're looking for a good bar or live music this is the place. The ever famous 6th street is also located here.

South Congress

South Congress or SoCo as it's known is a funky neighborhood with interesting boutiques, antiques, food trailers, and great restaurants.

Chi'lantro Korean + Mexican Fusion Food truck

Featured on the food network.. the kimchi fries are amazing! Carmelized kimchee, korean BBQ meat of your choice, sriracha, magic sauce, and monterey jack cheese. Just plain goodness!

University of Texas at Austin

Nice walk around the campus! Austin is a real university town. If you or the guy in your life is into football you should take in a Longhorns game.

The Salt Lick BBQ

World renowned BBQ joint known for their ribs. Most people go to the location in Driftwood but I took the easy way out and grabbed it at the airport. Unfortunately no ribs at the airport but their brisket was good!

Gotta have the mexican vanilla!

Lady Bird Lake

Great trails to walk or bike. You can rent canoes, kayaks, or bikes to go along the lake or trails.

Whole Foods Austin

This is the flagship Whole Foods store and it is unbelievable! There's a walk in beer fridge, a full wine bar, cooking school, and the food court is massive. Definitely worth seeing!

Viva Day Spa on South Lamar

Best massage I ever received! I literally melted on the massage table.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar

The perfect union of burgers and beer. Hopdoddy will pair the perfect beer with your burgers.

I had an ahi tuna burger with nori chips and a sweet wasabi sauce. YUM!

Garridos

An infusion of contemporary flavors with the tastes of Mexico.

Good chips and queso! I had their snapper BLT taco and the roasted beef brisket taco. Loved the handmade tortillas!
