How old was your child or how close to potty trained was your child when you decided (if you did) to change from diapers to pull ups?

50% we changed early in the process, my child was motivated by "big Boy/girl" type underpants.
25% no way, pull ups are just diapers anyway
- my child could go on the potty if reminded
- my child was nearly trained, went to potty without prompting

we changed...
Both my kids were not close to being potty trained when we switched. To be honest, our nanny just started buying pull-ups one day & our kids liked them. They did seem to feel like "big kids" so we kept w/ them. They are easier to put on & just the same to get off since you can open them up if your child has gone poop. Both our kids were pretty easy to potty train but I'm not sure these were related.

We didn't use Pull-Ups with our late-trainer because I wanted him to notice that he was still in diapers and not in anything resembling big boy pants. (For my early trainer, we used them on long flights/drives for that period just after she trained.)

We skipped the pull-ups. We did the boot camp method of potty training and went cold turkey from diapers to underwear.
no way, pu..., we changed...
We just dealt with all the nasty accidents - and if he went through more than one pair in a day, then it was back to a diaper for the rest of that day. A couple of times, one particular teacher at daycare put him in pull-ups that they had on hand - but that seemed to lead to a regression in training. I think the pull-ups confused my son - felt like underwear, yet he could go potty in them - so for us, having a clearer demarcation between diapers and underwear was much more effective.
