This has happened to me. We do have lots of people at the house - parties, guests, playdates, you name it. I noticed a sweater was hanging on a hook for months. Thought it was our caregivers. She said no. I sent out emails to see if it belonged to anyone I knew had been at our house. No luck. I am wearing it now. Feel a little guilty but what was the alternative - give to Goodwill?
No
Well, not in public anyway. I am *so* that person that would end up running into the true owner while I had it on. Murphy's Law and all that. But if it was comfy and I liked it, I'd be all over it at home.

If it's really nice, try several times. When no owner responds, it goes to Goodwill.
