We don't take much & those are all about spending time w/ my parents at their house or cottage. So its not that we are heading here & there every week nor spending time at Disney or other vacation spots. That might be exhausting. We just head to Toronto & spend 1-2 weeks there. My kids are 3 & 5 now so they are good on the plane & not that tough to look after. My parents even pitch in so we have more hands than when we are home.

We are finally out of the woods on this one. Youngest is approaching 3 and this summer vacation has been great.

Family vacations always sound like they'll provide a nice, if not "relaxing", at least a variation on the normal day-to-day. Unfortunately, the girls don't sleep well in new places even when we bring bedding, stuffies, etc. that they're used to, so that means little sleep for us! Also, do you solve the problem of space by renting 2 hotel rooms? A house? (sounds like a good SS question....)
Yes
I'm actually responding while on vacation with my family in Tahoe. I've already said twice today that I need a vacation from this vacation! The next one that I plan NEEDS to be without kids!
Yes
That's why we don't call visits to our family members "vacations" -- they are stressful and usually involve some kind of arguing and shouting match, followed by steady drinking. Instead, our real vacations are with friends and NO other relatives. *** Our current fave vacation is at Family Vacation Center at UC-Santa Barbara. Stress-free, logistics-free and NO COOKING for 7 days, and the kids get to play with other kids their own age while adults do their thing. Luuuv it.

Oh Yes!! Ywo weeks at the Jersey Shore was just like two weeks at home -- just a beach and ocean! Cooking, cleaning and laundry for 4 still there. I wanted a nice long weekend alone at the spa to recover!!

I am generally OK with family vacations and if we are not travelling with a grandparent I try to only book accomodations that provide some kind of "kiddie club" option.
Yes
And why is it that Mom is the maid, waitress, nurse and travel agent for every vacation? Seriously, I wonder if it's worth it.....
Yes
But are worth it!!
Yes
Definitely worth it but often more work than being at home with less sleep for the kids. (which becomes extra whining during the days) Vacations do make the kind of memories I love to create! Priceless and exhausting.
