I like going away for a weekend w/ girlfriends or other couples but for real vacation, I want to spend w/ my family - hubbie & 2 kids. I don't get enough time w/ them given work & busy lives so vacation is all about spending time w/ them.

Right now, several families with kids of similar age or congenial temperament. Preferably rent a house somewhere, or camp together. Otherwise, my favorite vacation is still Family Vacation Center in Santa Barbara!!!

I am very lucky as my parents are very hands on and my brother and his wife have kids very close in age to mine so we have built in play dates and grandparents get to bond with all of their grand kids at the same time. I also get along very well with my brother and his family so this scenario is my ideal.

Extended family trips are not only not fun - they are downright boring and emotionally exhausting. We like to vacation/travel with friends who have kids in a similar age range.

I love vacations that include our friends and the kids frineds. One of our best vacations is renting 5 cabins on a beautiful lake side property. We share cooking and the kids all play. We even make arrangements for a masseuse to come mid week. Fantastic!
