But I am a conflict avoiding Canadian. We even say sorry if someone else bumps into us.

Yes
I would do it if I felt that the personality fit was really not a good one for my child. As a former educator, I think most schools support this if there is a valid reason for the request.

I guess it depends on what the conflict is. I'd say my answer is No, but I guess if I had an older child that had that same teacher and I really had an issue with him or her that I couldn't get past, then I might request a teacher change.
