Do you have any ideas for little ways to be more mindful each day? (i.e. how to live in the moment more?). Pls share!

I think I do a good job of "living in the moment" which to me means I can separate my work from my home life or my other interests (friends, non-profit boards, etc.) One thing I do is use my 30-minute commute as a kind of separator. Once I pull out of my driveway in the am, I am work Eden. When I pull back at night, I am home/mom/wife Eden...at least until the kiddies go to bed. I really don't beat myself up that I am not the mom who is the home parent, does most dropoffs or pickups, etc. I remind myself its not quantity but quality. I won't miss the big things in my kids lives but don't sweat the small things. I give big where I can which may mean fundraising rather than organizing the bakesale. I do wish I had more time for some quiet reflection but one step at a time!

I've tried but when I try to get a connection all i get is a busy signal or out of service recording! **SIGH** Though it is on my TO DO list to find some way some how to find myself again in the coming year!

I try to actually sit down to eat for lunch, complete with napkin, placemat, water, utensils, etc. If I'm sitting down at a table, I'm not multi-tasking, and I feel better throughout the day because I'm not doing a bunch of things while running on empty. Great question guys!

Set aside 30 minutes each day when you don't check your phone, don't do anything except focus on you and your child(ren). Get on the floor and play with them without any distraction. Blow bubbles, play with play dough, shoot each other with water guns, whatever, just play, give kisses, and hang out!

Start small. Set aside 5 minutes to play with your child and be *completely* focused on playing with them. (No mental to-do-lists!) Set an egg timer. Repeat each day until you think you can go for longer, then increase by 5 minutes. It's surprisingly hard for those of us who aren't in the habit. :-) I'm guilty as charged.

LOVE what you are doing while you are doing (chopping the carrots, reading a book with your child). And turn off your cell phone when you can.

Read a motivational quote every single day... make that one of the first things you do in the morning and try to remember it throughout the day. If you have trouble remembering, write it out or type it/print it and post it where you will see it until you go to bed. Look at the small things happening in your life and try to find joy in those little things... sometimes it's the little things that mean the most (like doing laundry and folding clothes... be thankful that you CAN do laundry and have clothes to fold, unlike those less fortunate who either don't have a home of their own or cannot afford new clothes, etc).

Be more aware of others and give genuine, sincere compliments.
