If you're still in the early weeks/months (and, like me, leaking pretty regularly), I really liked the Gerber ultra-thin pads - I found them to be very absorbent, but I could use two at a time if necessary and not look like I was super padded. For later, when I still wanted something just in case but usually didn't leak much, if at all, I used LilyPadz that I could rinse or wash and wear pretty much every day. Also, I just heard about these: http://epibi.com/ - which are reusable but still fabric, and wick away moisture instead of absorbing it, reducing the likelihood of infection (as someone who's had mastitis more than once, I'd do almost anything to avoid getting it again). I think they're going to be sold in Whole Foods soon.
Lansinoh
I don't recall the brand I used but the Lansinoh nursing ointment was the best! I used washable lambswool nursing pads and they were the best! Softer than cotton and absorbent.

I used Lily Padz and they were great for a while but then I developed a yeast infection on one side which was very painful and required a prescription treatment. I did some research online and this seems to be a common issue with LilyPadz. They are great, but you definitely need to take days off here and there.

I can't remember what I used, but I tried a few chose the ones that were most absorbent!

disposable are the best. I know that they aren't the most environmentally friendly but the others can start to smell, no matter how much you wash them.
Lansinoh, Avent, Nuk
Those brands are all good. Just make sure that there is no plastic backing and change them frequently!

I ended up liking Gerber the best. I always wondered why a nursing pad would have a fake nipple impression on the front - not very flattering :) Lily padz were great, but I used those only when I went swimming.
