Amy Poehler has done more than make us laugh in the course of her career. Amy Poehler’s Bio

Amy is the daughter of Eileen and William Poehler. She was born in Newton Massachusetts but was raised in nearby Burlington. Both of her parents are school teachers and they practice the Catholic faith. As a child of school teachers, Amy’s parents ensured that she had a quality education. She attended Burlington High School and proceeded to Boston College where she received a bachelor’s degree in media and communications in 1993. She also studied Improv at Second City and also at ImprovOlympic.

Amy Poehler emerged in the limelight in the 1990s as a member and co-founder of sketch comedy group named Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB). After a few performances on famous TV networks in the 90s, the group made it to Saturday Night Live in the 2001-2002 season. Of course, Poehler independently played a huge part in making the show a hit.

As a reward for her outstanding performance, she was promoted from being a featured player to full cast member on the show. This turned out to be her breakout platform as she became the first woman and the third person to step up the ladder in such a manner after Harry Shearer and Eddie Murphy. Poehler and Canadian actor Will Arnett were among the countless celebrities that took their love from film to real life. The two met on the series Arrested Development and dated for a while before solidifying their relationship on August 29, 2003.

After their marriage, Poehler had a recurring role on the series, playing her husband’s wife. They starred in more films together and it was fair to assume that their love would last for long.

However, they announced their separation in 2012 to the disappointments of many fans that rooted for them. Their divorce was finalized in 2016 and good enough, they didn’t have to struggle for the custody of the products of their marriage – two sons Archie and Abel born in 2008 and 2010 respectively. They both play active roles in raising them.

Months after Amy Poehler’s marriage shattered, the iconic actress started dating fellow comedian, Nick Kroll who is widely known for appearing in The League and guest starring in Parks and Recs.

The duo made their first public appearance as a couple in 2013 during AFI’s Life Achievement Award gala in Hollywood. Their love seemed to be intense and Poehler even wrote that the actor was encouraging her in the right ways. But in 2015, they ended up splitting with Poehler moving over to Benjamin Graf who is an attorney at Merchant & Gould New York.

The two stayed friends for a while before beginning their love journey. But the years of their friendship seemed not to have been able to sustain the love affair that lasted only for two years.
