Ryan Tannehill is an American football player who plays in the National Football League (NFL) as a quarterback for the Miami Dolphins. Before making the NFL draft in 2012, he had a successful college career with Texas A&M University where he made himself a testament of the great player he would become in the years that followed.

Ryan Tannehill Biography

The Miami Dolphins quarterback was born Ryan Timothy Tannehill III on July 27, 1988, in Lubbock, Texas to Tim and Cheryl Tannehill. He was, however, brought up in Big Spring, Texas alongside his brother, Tobyn Tannehill, who unsurprisingly, also played the same sport but did not make it as far as his brother did. There is also another brother, Tyler Tannehill and it’s needless to point out that he also played football.

Since he was a kid, Ryan and his two brothers were very much involved in sports, playing everything from basketball to football, hockey, and even participated in track and field. The three boys grew up trying to compete against each other, something that would later build-up the spirit of competition in Ryan.

Ryan Tannehill received his high school education at Big Spring High School where he was not only an exceptional footballer but also found himself in the basketball and track and field teams. From here, he chose to attend Texas A&M over other colleges that wanted him, including the University of Houston and Texas Christian University.

Following a successful four-year spell at Texas A&M, Tannehill turned pro by entering the 2012 NFL Draft where he was selected by the Miami Dolphines in the first round. This made him the first quarterback to be selected by the team in the first round of drafts since 1983 when they picked Dan Marino. What is more is that in the franchise history, he also became the third quarterback behind Marino and Bob Griese to be selected in the first round.

From then on, he continued playing for the team as he remains one of its most important stars.

Ryan Tannehill did not only grow up in a family that was closely knit, but it was also one that shared the love for football. The love was inherited from their father, Tim Tannehill who played as a quarterback when he was at Post High School and then as a receiver when he went to Texas Tech.

Looking at his love life, the quarterback is married to Lauren Ufer. While the lines of their love story and how they met still remain blurry, it is known that it all began in 2009 when the couple first met in Florida. Before then, they both attended the same church and were also Texas A&M Aggies, but they had never met.

Having begun dating in 2009, the pair finally decided to become man and wife at an event that was held in Mexico. The union is so far blessed with two children; Steel Ryan Tannehill who was born in 2016 and Stella Rose Tannehill in 2018.

Inasmuch as not too much is known about Lauren Tannehill, her philanthropic efforts have not gone unnoticed. More so, standing at 5 feet 7 inches tall, Lauren was a model and she graduated from college with a major in communications and a minor in psychology.

Salary and Net Worth

Before the NFL’s first official day of the 2018-2019 league year began, the Dolphins restructured the contract of Ryan Tannehill. With that, most of his salary for 2018 was converted into signing bonus and so he took home a check of $16.7 million.

With that said, his base salary for 2018 is $775,000. For 2019, he will take home a base salary of $18,725,000 before finally netting a salary of $19,497,523 in 2020. This will bring his total base salary since joining the NFL in 2012 to close to $67 million.
