Born on September 2, 1966, Salma’s original name is Salma Valgarma Hayek Jiménez. She was born and raised in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico as the daughter of an opera singer and talent scout, Diana Jiménez Medina. Her father’s name is Sami Hayek Domínguez and she has a younger brother whose name is Sami.
As per her education, Slama Hayek went to a convent school in Louisiana. She also briefly attended Universidad Iberoamerican where she studied International Relations after which she went to pursue her passion as an actress.
Salma’s career in acting started after she moved to Los Angeles, California, to equip herself as an English actress. But before then, she was already popular in Mexico for her role in the 1989 Telenovela Teresa. In 1994, she gained a role in another Mexican film titled El Callejón De Los Milagros. Salma’s father Sami Hayek Domínguez is a Mexican of Christian Lebanese descent. He owns an industrial-equipment firm and is an executive member of an oil company. He had at a time contested for a mayoral post in Coatzacoalcos. Her mother, Diana Jiménez Medina is an opera singer and she is of Mexican-Spanish heritage. Salma’s brother Sami is a furniture designer.
